Privacy & Refund Policy

How we handle your data, and what happens if you want your money back.

Draft — last edited 5 July 2026
This is a draft template, not a published legal document. It reflects standard GDPR and EU consumer-law principles as generally understood, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and doesn't yet reflect your specific data flows (analytics, payment processor, email service provider) since those aren't finalized. Have this reviewed by qualified legal counsel before publishing it as a binding policy — this is exactly the item your own launch checklist already flagged as pending.

Privacy Policy

Cadmium Audio ("we", "us") is based in Madrid, Spain. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website and our newsletter, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect

  • Newsletter signup: your email address, and nothing else, if you subscribe. We use it only to send you the newsletter and product updates you signed up for.
  • License activation: if you purchase Cadmium Sampler, we process your email address and a Machine ID (a non-personal hardware identifier) to issue and, if needed, re-issue your license.
  • Website fonts: typefaces are self-hosted on our own server. No font request ever leaves this site to a third party, so no data is shared with Google or anyone else for this purpose.

We do not currently run analytics or advertising tracking on this site.

Why we process it (legal basis)

  • Newsletter: your consent, given when you subscribe. You can withdraw it at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • License issuance: performance of the purchase contract between you and us.

How long we keep it

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. License and purchase records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes under Spanish law.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. It may be processed by our email service provider (to send the newsletter) and our payment processor (to handle your purchase) acting as our data processors under their own data processing agreements.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at [add contact email]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD).

Refund Policy

Cadmium Sampler is sold as digital content delivered online. EU consumer law gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal on most online purchases — including digital content — with one specific exception that applies to instant-delivery digital products like a plugin license.

Your 14-day right of withdrawal

If you buy Cadmium Sampler as a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have 14 days from purchase to cancel for any reason and get a full refund, without needing to justify why.

The digital-content exception

Because a license file is delivered to you instantly, EU law allows sellers of digital content to ask you to expressly waive this 14-day right at checkout, in exchange for getting immediate access instead of waiting out the withdrawal period. If we do this, our checkout must clearly ask for that consent — it cannot be buried in general terms and conditions.

Our practical policy

  • Option A — honor the full 14-day EU right regardless of instant delivery, as a trust-building gesture (common among indie developers; simplest to explain, costs you some refund exposure).
  • Option B — the standard exception: checkout requires explicit consent to immediate delivery and waiver of the withdrawal right, refunds handled case-by-case at your discretion outside the legal minimum.

Whichever you pick, state it in one clear sentence here, and make sure the checkout flow actually matches what this page promises — a mismatch between the two is worse than either option alone.
